Ripple Rock Trail

On Friday, October 16 I went on a long, hard walk at Ripple Rock trail. The walk was four hours. I walked on the shaky suspension bridge. It was intense to walk on. Ms. Johnson was not helping by shaking the bridge. Friday was her last day=[. I saw trees, mountains, and falling yellow-brown maple leaves. The view from the walk was beautiful. The water was moving, because of the strong current. The cliff we climbed up had a steam and waterfall. It was kinda of hard to climb up. The walk was hard but at the end it felt good to finish it.

The Ripple Rock Hike Up and Back

We hiked the Ripple Rock hike last Friday. The things we saw were ALOT of leaves and trees and mud and grass, on the way back from the trail I found a frog my friend was scared and didn’t want to sit beside me! The things we did were walk for 2 hours and then sit and rest for 20 minutes and then keep walking for another hour and then sat down for lunch and then walked all the way back and that’s when I found the frog. The walk up was hard and DF always wanted to scare us and sometimes it worked.

The Ripple Rock Hike =D

The hike was about 4 hour long. We tagged along with Grade 9’s. It was just last Friday, the day that Ms. Johnson left = (. The hike up there was really fun. It was the most fun I have ever had since school has started. I looked like a banana in my poncho. It was really funny and cute at the same time. The hike wasn’t too bad afterwards. The hike up was really painful, but down wasn’t too bad, because I got to jog most of it. Thanks to Ms Lapointe =D she carried my bag for me =D. Mrs. Duffin carried some of my stuff as well =D. I was really happy that I got the chance to miss school. I thank them for the greatest time. We all had a lot fun with each other. Hope there is more trips like that again, but no so painful or long! The only other thing I could say about this trip was I had a lot of fun. The fun part was when we were done the hike. I liked that I got to take good pictures with my sister's camera.

Worms

We went to the compost centre. There were red wigglers there. I learned something new about them they don’t like vibrations and they don’t like sun light. We saw a garden too. There were pumpkins and flowers also lettuce and tomatoes, but the tomatoes were small.
We also saw grapes. They were purple and sour. They were small but good. We learned about composting. You are not allowed to put spicy stuff in there because worms can’t eat that, but worms do eat kitchen waste. You have to put newspaper in your compost for the worm’s bed. When the worms are finished they make worm castings. The castings are good for the earth.

Compost Education Center

Yesterday I went to the compost center. We learned a lot about worms, you can’t get warts from worms but you can get sick from touching dirt and worms. You should always wash your hands after gardening. We also learned that worms breathe through their skin. If you cut a worm in half maybe the head side will live but the tail side will always die. I was grossed out by the worms when the lady opened the box, the food in the box looked old and gross. For a worm bin in a classroom the bin has to have holes in it so the worms can have air, there needs to be ripped up news paper, sand so they can chew their food. You also need two blocks to put under the bin, and a pie plate to catch the drippings.
